New Operational Technology (OT) systems support TCP/IP connectivity and are often interfaced with corporate IT networks. While this convergence brings many advantages from an operational perspective, it also exposes companies to considerable cyber risks if not managed properly. In his presentation, the speaker will highlight the main differences between IT and OT systems, most of which have a direct impact on the governance model needed to support an effective OT security program. In the second part of the presentation, he will briefly explain how a “zero-trust architecture” can be used to secure the interface between IT and OT, and propose an approach to put the foundation for a sustainable OT security program.
