The cyber landscape has evolved beyond the intent of its original creation. This system once built on trust has been compromised by an ever-increasing advancement in cyber-attacks, malware proliferation, data loss, and data contamination. Although security vendors try hard to detect these cyber-attacks, skilled adversaries have successfully defeated current paradigms used to protect our computer systems. The result is a significant rise in exploitation of our critical systems, theft of data most valuable to the organization, and billions of dollars lost year to year responding to these attacks. It seems we have been piloting through cyberspace using a broken compass. This keynote addresses flaws in the methodologies used to secure computer systems and focuses on new ways to enhance our approach to better secure our systems against tomorrow’s attacks.
