Budgets are tighter than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic and threat actors have only increased their malicious activity. This makes it difficult to start a new threat intelligence program, but it doesn’t have to be this way. In this talk we will teach you how to start a threat intelligence team from scratch using repurposed hardware and open-source software. Once the hardware and open-source software is setup, it’s important to have a methodology that not only takes the path of least resistance but also constantly enriches your threat intelligence. Once your operational methodologies are established, it is very important to understand how to build a team from people with minimal experience due to the skills gap in the cyber security industry. With this knowledge you will be able to build your own threat intelligence and malware analysis special operations team.
