General Event Questions

WHAT IS A HYBRID EVENT AND HOW CAN I ATTEND?

SecTor 2021 has been planned and ticket priced, as a “hybrid event” from the beginning. Our intention has been to get you every penny of value from the virtual event so that you can buy your ticket with confidence and then provide you as robust of an in-person experience as is safe and reasonable on November 3-4, 2021.

The physical event includes a complete exhibit hall experience and some of your favorite activities such as the IoT Hack Lab and Lockpick Village. The first 1000 people to get there in person will receive a lockpick kit. The virtual event includes a complete experience with sponsor virtual booths, contests and all the high-quality educational content you have come to expect when attending SecTor. All sessions will be presented on the virtual platform and available to all full conference ticket holders for 90 days, giving you plenty of time to watch every session. WILL THE CONTENT BE THE SAME AT THE IN-PERSON EVENT AND THE VIRTUAL EVENT?

The in-person conference includes 7 tracks of content but all tracks will be available on the digital platform for 90 days. The keynote sessions will be streamed to both virtual and physical attendees but the usual sitting together and eating breakfast and lunch during the keynote isn’t feasible and the ticket price reflects this.

WILL BLACK HAT TRAININGS BE OFFERED?

Yes. This year, Black Hat Trainings are being offered virtually. Black Hat ran successful and highly rated virtual Trainings at Black Hat USA and Asia events earlier this year and we’re bringing that same proven model to SecTor 2021.

CAN I ATTEND BLACK HAT TRAININGS BUT NOT THE CONFERENCE?

Yes, you can sign up for an Expo Pass and add Black Hat Trainings to your registration.

CAN I MODIFY MY EXISTING SECTOR REGISTRATION TO ADD A BLACK HAT TRAININGS COURSE?

Yes. Click here to login to your registration profile with your email and password. There you can edit/change your registration options.

I HAVE REGISTERED AND CANNOT ATTEND. CAN I GET A REFUND, OR TRANSFER MY REGISTRATION TO SOMEONE ELSE?

Please see our refund and substitution policy for a detailed breakdown on the SecTor 2021 cancellation refund request process including key dates, fees and more. To transfer your registration to someone else, you must update all registration details to the substituted registrants, including name, contacts details, privacy and survey questions. WILL THE SESSIONS BE AVAILABLE AFTER THE CONFERENCE?

Yes. Attendees will be able to view session presentations and keynote videos on-demand on our virtual platform following the conference.

HOW ARE MY CPE CREDITS RECORDED BY (ISC)2?

All attendees are responsible for submitting their own CPEs. Following SecTor 2021, attendees may request a Letter of Attendance to submit with their CPE credits.

HOW ARE MY CPE CREDITS RECORDED BY ISACA AND OTHER CERTIFICATIONS?

All attendees are responsible for submitting their own CPEs. Following SecTor 2021, attendees may request a Letter of Attendance from sector@informa.com.

HOW MANY CPES CAN I EARN?

Full Conference attendees will receive one CPE credit per conference hour and Expo attendees will receive one credit per conference day. Expo attendees who participate longer should manually submit additional CPEs directly. Trainings and Summit attendees will also earn one CPE credit per learning hour

WHAT IS SECTOR’S CFP AND SPEAKER PRIVACY POLICY?

Information gathered during the CFP process is not used for general marketing purposes and is only retained if you are selected as a conference speaker for the purposes of facilitating your speaking at the conference. Further, speaker information is not shared with anyone unless requested by the speaker, such as allowing your badge to be scanned during the conference. In-Person Event Questions

WHAT HEALTH MEASURES/PROTOCOLS IS SECTOR TAKING TO ENSURE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT ON-SITE?

SecTor is working closely with the MTCC to provide a safe and healthy experience for all SecTor participants.

  • Masks will be required at all times, except while eating and drinking in designated areas.
  • Medical exemptions will be allowed following guidance (below) from Province of Ontario.
  • All attendees will be asked for proof of full vaccination as a condition of entry into Metro Toronto Convention Center, as required by Province of Ontario.
  • Onsite Covid testing will be available Wednesday and Thursday, November 3-4.

WILL I BE REQUIRED TO SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION TO ENTER THE CONFERENCE VENUE?

Yes. All attendees will be asked for proof of full vaccination as a condition of entry into Metro Toronto Convention Center, as required by Province of Ontario.
The following types of vaccination proof will be accepted:

  • Hard copy or image of vaccination record

OR

  • Verify Ontario app
  • Other provincial health apps
  • TSA CLEAR

A matching photo ID will be required in all cases.

All attendees will be asked to verify vaccination proof each time they enter the building. If they leave for lunch and come back, they will be asked to re-verify vaccination. More information on provincial vaccination requirements can be viewed here.

WILL I BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK? WILL MEDICAL EXCEPTIONS BE ALLOWED?

Masks will be required at all times, except while eating and drinking in designated areas. Medical exemptions will be allowed following guidance (below) from Province of Ontario. Out of province or out of country medical documentation will be honoured in Ontario if the individual’s name, the physician’s name and physician’s contact information are provided. The note must clearly state that there is a medical reason for the individual not to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and the effective time-period for the medical reason.

IS COVID TESTING AVAILABLE?

Yes. Onsite Covid testing will be available Wednesday and Thursday, November 3-4. Testing is available 8am to 11am each day in Room 715A. Appointments can be made by emailing covidpcr@mcimed.com. Attendees should identify themselves as attending SecTor when emailing. Walk-ins are accepted based on availability. Payment for testing is due at the time of service, at the test taker’s expense.

Rapid Antigen Testing:
$79.00 per person plus HST. Test results are available within 15 minutes and appropriate documentation for access to events or venues as well as for travel to the United States will be provided by email directly to the participant.
Walk-in Fee: Subject to availability at $129.00 per person plus HST.

PCR Testing:
$245.00 per person plus HST. Test results can be received within 24 hours or less and appropriate documentation will be provided to the participant by email.
Attendees should prepare to provide information noted in the attached testing document.

IS THERE FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE IN THE VENUE?

Yes. Light food and drinks will be available for purchase on the 800 level. Food service must be purchased from the retail food outlet, provided by Metro Toronto Convention Center, and may only be consumed in designated areas. Food service will be available between 8am and 3pm on November 3 and 4.

WHAT SHOULD I KEEP IN MIND WHEN TRAVELLING TO SECTOR?

SecTor recommends all participants review guidance on Government of Canada – COVID-19: Travel, testing, quarantine and borders.

CAN I BOOK MY HOTEL IN TORONTO NOW – AND HOW SHOULD I DO THAT?

Virtual Event Questions

I KNOW I CAN’T GET TO THE EVENT THIS YEAR. IS THE VIRTUAL EVENT GOING TO BE WORTH MY TIME & MONEY?

Yes! We know this is a challenging year for travel and we are planning to make the virtual experience as valuable as possible. All our sessions will be delivered in full on our virtual platform. Sponsors will be offering demos and swag, and we’ve built more interactive tools for networking during the virtual event. You have 90 days after the event to watch (or re-watch) all the sessions you want. We successfully ran SecTor as a virtual only event in 2020 with great results and positive feedback from attendees. We have even more great updates and enhanced functionality for SecTor 2021 planned.

WHAT PLATFORM DOES SECTOR USE TO DELIVER THE VIRTUAL EVENT, AND WHERE CAN I LEARN MORE?

The SecTor virtual event will be delivered on the Swapcard platform.
