It’s been ten years since SecTor first began. The conference launched as a no-nonsense, fact-filled event designed to help security professionals protect themselves against attack. The organizers created it because Canada needed it back then, and we clearly still need it now. The last ten years have been filled with hacks, and the number of stolen records has reached into the tens of millions.
Here is a review of some of the last ten years’ largest hacks. Some are devious. Some are accidental. Some resulted in little more than lost email. Others ruined lives. They make one thing clear: as an industry, we’re still learning – and the need to hone our defensive skills remains stronger than ever.
