Back by popular demand for 2013. Join us to continue the fun with all of SecTor Attendees and Speakers.
Returning for its fifth year at SecTor, we present the Lockpick Village. Physical security is far too often an overlooked aspect of modern security. 'Its fine, the server room is locked'you say? Come spend some time in the lockpick village. Learn how lock picking, bump keys and other lock bypass techniques work, what makes a lock secure, and what makes it weak. Attendees will get the opportunity to try their hand at picking sample locks, and there will be a contest for those who can do it the quickest.
There will be a contest. It will be run by the good folks from Trustwave. The prize again this year is $500 cash and free passes for SecTor 2014 to each team member (max 4 passes).
In fact, there will be two contests – a separate competition on each day of the conference. Anyone can create a team to participate, minimum of two team members per team. Local colleges and universities, including UOIT, will be bringing teams to participate, and corporate teams are welcome. The testing environment will be made up of multiple operating systems.
Put together a team and email CTF@SecTor.ca to let us know your team name, number of members, and what day you'd like to participate (you can compete both days if you like). We'll provide the CTF environment, seating, and network connectivity, and will have a number of screens set up in the CTF area so that conference attendees can watch the action in real-time. Come out and show off your mad skillz! Space is limited to 5 teams each day, so sign up ASAP.
The winning team (on each day) will win Full Conference Passes for SecTor 2014.
RULES: Team Size: Minimum of 2, Maximum of 4. Timing: The contest will start at 10:15 and end at 3:30 . The environment will be kept open for testing for the duration of the contest, regardless of success throughout the day. Total number of unique successful captures will win the day: Original hacks will earn a point. Subsequent use of the same hack by another team will not count towards their total. SecTor reserves the right to add, remove or edit the rules.
